Sony's original mascot - Polygon Man

Sophia temporarily replaced Polygon Man until Crash Bandicoot appeared on the scene. Sega had Sonic the Hedgehog and Nintendo has Mario.  In 1995, Sony's unofficial mascot was a floating head called Polygon Man.  SCEA quickly replaced the character with Sophia from Battle Arena Tohshinden who demanded a lot from users.  Fortunately for SCEA, Naughty Dog was preparing to release Crash Bandicoot which would become Sony's flagship title.

Generally the PlayStation Museum only shows PlayStation hardware and software that is in our possession and in safe storage.  However, there are a handful of rare PlayStation antiquities that we are actively pursuing to obtain but there is very little information about them.  We believe that by displaying what we know, someone may come forward and help our efforts to preserve these.
Pictured to the left is an official PlayStation unit Launch Edition.  This unit is shrouded in mystery.  What makes this unit perfect for the museum?  The inclusion of the gold sticker.  If you can obtain this hardware, please contact the museum immediately.
